Greetings fellow members,
Well after a most fantastic evening of chair swapping, stranger in the messing and general frivoloity I can honestly say, with my hand on my heart that the evening was a truely splendid one. I would like to firstly thank all of the people who have given their time and energy to create a truely enjoyable evening.
When unwinding with a few glasses of wine after the first mess dinner, back in Feb 1882 we were thinking that it would be a great idea to increase the size of the dinner so as to allow more people to attend. Well it soon became a labour of love, with many people juggling their real lives to get things organised. Soon the date was set and the hall booked and the word soon got out. (there was no going back now) I don't think it could have been done without the help of the attendees who each contributed something to the night. unusually everyone who said they would do something did what they said they would do, which to me was amazing and that shows what a great bunch of people we have in the RDC. From setting up the hall, to clearing down there were always people there ready to help, so thank you.

(The setup)

(Stranger in the Mess Urn and Mess Port)

(Some of the Ladies of the RDC Showing off their New Tropical Whites (Huzzah! ) )

(RDC Award presentation)

Also as part of the event, we hoped to raise enough money to pay for our public liability insurance to allow us to put on more events this year. I would like to say, that with the raffle and money left over from the food we have done this. Huzzah!
And finally, If this is the start of the year, we are going to have a fantastic time, if you think you know someone who would enjoy being a part of a fun organisation like the RDC get them to enlist. Its free and the only requirement is that you are willing to have fun.

Until the next event (Showzam in Blackpool - Feb)
